FDA announcement -- significant impact on Tirzepatide
On December 19, 2024, the FDA announced that compounding pharmacies must stop producing tirzepatide.
Shortage resolution
-
The FDA initially removed tirzepatide from the drug shortage list in October 2024, but after a lawsuit, the agency reevaluated its decision and allowed compounders to continue for a time.
Grace period
-
The FDA gave compounders a grace period of 60 to 90 days before enforcing rules that would put a halt to their work.
Exceptions
-
Medical aesthetic and weight loss practices may still be able to acquire compounded tirzepatide from compounding pharmacies under certain limited circumstances.
Transition
-
Practices should begin making plans to transition to the name brand.

How does this impact you?
Unless you are currently using the brand name Mounjaro or Zepbound, you are receiving the medication tirzepatide through a compounding pharmacy. Compounding pharmacies have been able to offer a greatly reduced price and have had a more reliable supply available to you.

Nurtured By Nurses has secured a supply of Tirzepatide that is available as part of our membership program for the next 6 - 12 months. We are limiting the number of participants in our program over the next 60 days to ensure active members can continue receiving the medication at the current price.
